TEST DRIVE MEME
![]() |
Whet your whistle, try out the setting, and see who you want to bring to the party! Maybe you were showering, or sleeping, having breakfast. You might have been participating in your morning commute or fighting off a horde of zombies. Whatever you were in the middle of, a strange sensation of disconnection comes over you, as though you're watching your life on screen, a passive audience to the proceedings. It's almost like, well, being sucked down the drain like every adolescent nightmare, the feeling of disconnection replaced quickly with a pain so deep, it's as though every atom of your being is pressed too closely together, and your vision goes dark. Then, just as quickly as the pain came over it, it's gone, reality snapping back into place like a stretched rubber band. When your eyes adjust, you find yourself in a slightly spartan room, standing on a platform that seems to be made of glass or some sort of crystal. Energy currents in blues and greens swirl within it, dizzying and hypnotizing if stared at for too long. You're shocked from the vision by a cheery, bubbly voice that belongs to a petite brunette grinning at you from the base of the steps that lead down from the platform. She apologizes for any inconvenience you may have been caused, and hands you a small package, explaining that inside you'll find a phone, a directory of locations within the complex you've arrived in, a charge card with a balance of $500, and a key to a room in the dormitories which can be reached by following the green line on your directory. She apologizes again for how confusing this must all be, but assures you that everything will make sense soon! 01 ARRIVAL After receiving your mysterious package from the happy girl who identifies herself as Airy, she suggests you head out and explore! You find out pretty quickly, or have a lot of trouble figuring out, that you're in a vast underground complex that consists of a lot of areas the directory says are "RESTRICTED". Places you can access are listed as "Forest", "Rec Room", "Cafeteria", and "Dormitories". 02 FOREST Down a hallway across from a RESTRICTED area, a vast room filled with a living, breathing, underground forest can be found. Here, deep underground, the sun shines, a small creek flows, birds sing, and one could really believe they were outside. There's even a pleasant breeze! Weird, right? 03 REC ROOM On the opposite side of the complex, near the dormitories, one will find another vast room labeled "REC ROOM". Inside, there is a seating area with basic refreshments (water, sports drinks), board games, a more relaxed seating area with sofas and places to read, a separate room that contains exercise equipment, another with an indoor pool, and a small basketball court. In a separate game room, there are arcade machines, an air hockey table, pool table, and ping pong table. 04 CAFETERIA Across the main hall from the REC ROOM, one will find the double doors leading to the CAFETERIA. Outside, on a easel chalkboard, can be found the menu items available for the meal currently being served. Inside, several dozen tables and chairs take up most of the floor, and the din of conversation is comparable to a high school cafeteria. The older gentleman in the kitchen will come to the counter when approached to see which of the selection you'd like. We'd really recommend sticking to the offered selection. 05 DORMITORIES Situated in a wing complex near the REC ROOM and the CAFETERIA is the DORMITORY wing. Rooms are solo and very small, ten to a hallway, and contain a single bed, a small dresser with mirror, and a small standing closet. Each hall has a common room at the end with seating and a five shelf bookcase, off of which are male and female bathrooms with showers, and a laundry room with four washers and four dryers. 06 WILDCARD Start your own prompt! See what that phone can do, facilitate random encounters in any of the unrestricted areas! Go wild! Literally! |

Hanna Marin | Pretty Little Liars
Okay... not what I was expecting.
[Hanna steps into the forest pushing some of the brush from her path. She walks in a short circle only to pause facing the doorway. It looks like a regular metal door and yet she can't see the ceiling.]
Last time I checked, you can't have forests inside.
[She looks up and tries to see if she can spot the ceiling behind the thick branches and leaves.]
03 REC ROOM
They don't skimp in this place do they?
[Hanna can be found inspecting the Rec Room with a curious eye. She appears to have a comment for each area as if the filter between her brain and mouth is non existent. Her eyes land on the large swimming pool and she whistles.]
Em would really like it here.
[With the thought spoken she moves on. She pulls two phones from her purse and begins messing with them. Hanna grows increasingly frustrated before shoving them both into her purse.]
Damn it, still no signal.
04 CAFETERIA
So we don't have to pay for food? [She purses her lips and raises her eyebrows.] Sweet.
[Hanna reads over the menu and as she gets to the bottom she mumbles.]
I'm going to get fat again.
05 WILDCARD
[ooc: Feel free to run into her wandering around. She's sort of nosy so she might try to poke her nose into a restricted section.]

What he didn't like was the complete lack of connection in the place. It made sense, given how far they were underground, but that didn't make it suck any less. Oh, and they hadn't even provided him with a data cable for the phone they'd forced on him. This was going to take some work.
He'd setup at a table in the cafeteria near the far wall, so he could keep an eye on the doors leading into the room, which was why he saw Hanna when she walked in. A thrill moved through him when he saw that bouncing blond hair and he just kept watching. She'd notice him eventually, and he didn't exactly want to shout across the cafeteria.]

She then decided to take a look around to get her bearings. Not there were many places to go according to the directory. With a sigh, she entered the most obviously strange area. Given they were underground and it was labeled 'forest'. Entering she stopped and looked around, eyes wide. She then looked at the directory again, then back up.
"But... we're underground... What magic is this? Maybe like Warrod?"

He smirked slightly at her question, but he really didn't have a way of answering. Maybe with a question? If he snuck up on her, he hadn't meant to.]

Hanna was trying to stare up at the ceiling which continued to be blocked by thick leaves. "I can't see it..." It was frustrating and she stomped her heel before turning back towards the door.
"I know there is a ceiling." Which she assumed would have glass or sun or maybe tell her where that breeze was coming from. Hanna had never seen real magic before and she was inclined to believe that there was something else behind this.
Grace | OUAT
Papa! Papa!
[She knows what that nice woman had said when she arrived but she wants to find her father. Her cloak is pulled over her cheeks but as she runs down the hall it falls showing off long her messy blonde hair.]
Papa are you here?!
[Grace continues to call out, her voice echoing down the long hallways.]

But then he heard her again. And again. The longer the words settled the more concrete they became. Maybe she called her fake father that too. Papa. Maybe he was making a terrible mistake, but he couldn't do nothing. He couldn't stand to hear her voice and not answer. He just couldn't. ]
Grace?
[ There were so many emotions twisted up inside that his voice came out too weak. If he was going to do something he had to at least pretend to be strong. For her sake. His feet started moving in her direction, and when he called again it was much louder. An edge of uncertainty remained, but what kind of parent would he be if he didn't even try? ]

Malcolm Baldwin | Original Character
[ Perhaps one should have been shaken by the events that just occurred, but Malcolm took it all with a surprising amount of stride. If anything he found himself irritated. Travelling time or crossing dimensions or whatever the hell was going on was absolutely nothing new to him, however, and as per usual form he ended up being more frustrated at the initial lack of information than the actual hows or whys about the reason he was there.
After giving the items he had received a thorough examination, he tucked them away in various pockets before taking the only direction he had been given: "explore." He preferred the term investigate, as exploration implied there was some sort of fun to be had. There wasn't. ]
Off we go, then.
[ He mumbled to himself, his tone indicating a sort of dry sarcasm that quite obviously indicated he wasn't thrilled. ]
04 CAFETERIA
[ Malcolm wasn't one much for public dining, but it seemed reasonable to think he would find people who were and that was his primary objective. It always was when things like this happened. He didn't approach anyone for the time being, instead opting to sit and simply watch any events that unfolded. ]

Something about the new guy who walks in and has a seat rubs him the wrong way, mostly the way he's keeping an eye on everyone and not even getting any food. Finally, Caleb's annoyance doesn't leave his eyes as he meets this new guy's eyes and stands, sliding his cellphone into the pocket of his hoody as he crosses the cafeteria, closing the distance between the two of them.
He runs a hand back through his hair before he actually says anything, and when he speaks, sharp hazel eyes never leaving the guy, his tone isn't annoyed. It sounds like he's just asking an honest question.]
Are we going to have a problem?

Caleb Rivers | Pretty Little Liars
[Caleb wandered into the Rec Room looking for a bit of solace to try something. The limited connectivity of the cellphone was bugging him and he was bound and determined to crack it. He has a seat in the seating area after grabbing a bottle of water and pulls his laptop from his bag. The first step is to see if he can tether a bluetooth connection to his phone. If so, he's so in. Engrossed as he is, he doesn't notice anyone approaching unless they say something.]
05 Dormitories
[If there's one thing Caleb isn't going to sniff at it's free room and board. He's spent too many nights on park benches or camping out at school, or crashing on sofas to turn his nose up at it. The free food was pretty nice, too. He made his way to the dorms, just to give them a look, curious about what other people might be snooping about there, too.]

Joey Mallone | Blackwell Series
[You know what's really overwhelming? Your senses being accosted by the feeling of vastly superior modern air conditioning and smells you haven't smelled in over 40 years, and solid ground beneath your feet when you can't even remember having feet. He stumbles when he comes to. Not his most graceful moment, but things are happening. And then there's some sweet little broad, kinda cute too, explaining some package to him that he doesn't really listen to and shuffling him off to God knows where. He doesn't leave immediately, though. Instead, he looks back over his shoulder after tucking the still unopened package under his arm.]
I don't think so, sister. How about you come clean about what's actually going on, 'cause if this is my white light, it's a real stinker.
04 Cafeteria
[It didn't take Joey long to identify the empty feeling in his gut, even though he hadn't felt it in over 70 years. He was hungry. As he plodded into the cafeteria, he was almost sort of coming to terms with the idea that he wasn't a dead guy anymore. Weird. Really weird. And where was the kid? He shrugged off that particular concern and went to the counter, where he was apparently just supposed to pick up his free food. Heaven has free food, huh? Not bad, not bad.
The guy at the counter was gruff, curt, and didn't take no nonsense from nobody, which mean Joey couldn't help but like him a little bit. The joint didn't have any hooch, but he wasn't going to complain. It was afternoon, anyway. Red'd have something to say about that.
After he has a seat with the meal he'd chosen (he had no idea whether he was going to like it or not. He was having trouble remembering what food tasted like, but it smelled amazing) he didn't make it a secret that he was watching people. 40 years of being invisible to everyone except other spooks and mediums really did a number on a fella's sense of propriety. Honestly, he didn't even realize he was staring.
While he's digging in, he'll be switching between watching and listening to people around him and sifting through that package the kid gave him. He lifts the phone, holding it like someone holding a wallet, and frowns at it.]
What the hell am I supposed to do with this thing?
01 Arrival
White light? Oh! No...no, no, no, no. You aren't dead or anything.

Jonathan Byers | Stranger Things
[ As far as Jonathan was concerned, an underground forest was something pretty hard not to explore. He had been shocked and confused by his arrival in more ways than one, but he was the type that preferred to find his own answers than accept whatever was fed to him. The girl that had "welcomed" him didn't seem like a bad person, but he didn't trust her. He had to see what was going on with his own eyes.
Even with his camera at the ready to capture anything unusual or interesting, he was cautious to use it. He always carried extra film, but that didn't mean he shouldn't be mindful of what he decided was important enough to document. So far he didn't even know if he could develop it properly but having some record of things, even if it remained inaccessible for an indefinite period of time, was better than no record at all.
What he deemed important and what normal people would deem important were probably very different things, though. ]
06 WILDCARD
[ Once he concluded his business in the forest, getting a closer look at those asinine number of restricted areas was high on Jonathan's list of priorities. He probably didn't have a chance in hell of getting in to any of them so he wouldn't try, but that didn't mean there weren't clues to be found regarding what was inside. He'd gotten pretty good at finding things others didn't notice, and that was what he was banking on when he chose the first door to examine. ]
06
...well, they couldn't be too careful. With motions too quiet for a human to hear, the vampire tales this man into the nearest room, moving behind the man silently as the door slides shut behind them. It was the doors leading into the rec center, but that didn't stop Luther from issuing a warning, letting his voice be the first sound the man was allowed to hear.]
You're a curious one.
02 the Forest
In fact, the longer he stuck around this joint, the more realized he didn't remember. The movement of air, the chill of it on your skin, smells...they all seemed...new...and sort of exciting. That's probably why he ended up in that forest. Pine, spruce, the smell of water...the warmth of the sun. It was...it must be what new babies feel like.
Careful, Mallone. You're getting sappy. He removed his fedora to run a hand back through his hair and just...enjoy the environment, catching sight of the guy with the camera as he moved around a larger tree. He didn't come up short or anything, still being unused to others being able to see him, and he shoved his hands in his pockets while he closed the distance.]
Weird joint, right? It's gotta be magic or something.
[His tone actually makes it difficult to tell whether he's talking to the other man or to himself.]
Rogue | X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut
Rogue had taken one look at the map and immediately known where she needed to go. Not wanted, needed. When was the last time she'd seen a tree? Three years ago, when the Sentinels had captured her. Three long years of seeing nothing but the walls of her cell, with the only signs of life that of her captors and her fellow prisoners.
When she stepped into the forest from a hallway nearly identical to all the others, her breath was taken away. She stared up at the sky with an actual sun and it was... How it was possible wasn't a concern at that moment. All that mattered was that it felt real. There was life here, trees and birds and a soft breeze that didn't smell of ash and a world turned to ruin. Rogue took a few steps further into the 'room' before collapsing to her knees, just continuing to stare in shock and awe at the beauty all around her.
04 CAFETERIA
More than just another place to explore, Rogue was drawn to the cafeteria because it reminded her of home. The actual space looked nothing like the dining hall at the mansion, and she was sure the kitchens would be quite different as well, but it was the feel of it. Everyone coming together, life convening in one space with a shared purpose. If nothing else, she'd be able to remind herself what it was like to be around other people.
The only problem? She wasn't hungry. No matter how long she stood there examining the menu posted on the sign, she couldn't decide on what sounded good, because there was no pleasure in eating anymore. But she couldn't just stand there, so in she went, looking around the room and feeling rather... lost.
04 (I couldn't resist)
Of course, one look at her told the Cajun this wasn't his Anna. That was rich. "His Anna." Anna hadn't been his in years, if he was honest with himself, if she ever really had been in the first place. It was one of the things he'd always liked about her. Rogue never really belonged to anybody. 'Course, all that wasn't going to stop him from being friendly.
He smiled his charming smile as he moved beside her, blinking eyes that clearly marked him as a fellow mutant curiously.
"Bonjour, chere. Havin' trouble choosin', or just wonderin' why it's normal ta have a diner in a bunker?"

Elena Michaels | Bitten
The wide range of new smells slammed against her senses and brought her quickly to her feet. She glared at the brown haired stranger and at anyone else around her. She didn't like the idea of suddenly being brought to a strange place, let alone caged. Her shoulders were tense and her thoughts drifted back to Stonehaven. It wasn't her concern, she shouldn't be worried; that's what she's going to keep telling herself.
She took the phone before turning and leaving the room. The stranger assured that things were okay but she was going to asses that herself.
02 FOREST
When Elena read the map she had been sceptical however the scent drifting through the halls washed away any doubt. She turned towards the door leading into the forest picking up the rich scents of the earth and wind trapped within the enclosed room. It was strange and definately something she'd check out though it wasn't the only thing to catch her attention.
There were strange, new, smells and she felt compelled to follow them.
She turned down the hall, ignoring any sign that it might be restricted. She wasn't very good at doing what she was told.
06 WILDCARD: Of the oh-fuck variety
[Warning: sorta gore-ish/nudity while she's shifting/possible dangers since she's freaking out.]
The forest, this place, the panic that rooted inside of her began to stir. She had been calm for the first few hours but learning that she's underground, that she's trapped here. It was hard to keep her emotions steady. She's had practice remaining calm and controlling her change but it wasn't enough.
She doubled over in the middle of the hall, screaming as pain jolted through her body. Her muscles and bones began to shift uncomfortably beneath her skin. Her fingers shortened and snapped while her palm began to elongate into a paw.
"Not now!" Elena cursed and then screamed again, falling to the floor as she fought with the half of herself that she wished she could make disappear.
06
Being more animal than man, nudity never bothered him and the fatherly instinct of a pack leader took over as he moved to the girl's side, not reaching out in comfort, not yet, but his voice is soft and comforting.]

New York and I can't even get a slice of pizza?
[He is used to world hoping though this is the first time he's left a city and arrived in the same city but in a different world. It's odd but not outside of the realm of possibilities.
He signs, planning to take things as they are for now. There is just one thing he's worried about and he supposes that he'll find the answer to his questions in time.]
Nice menu though.

Rogue | X-Men 90's Cartoon
Rogue was used to strange things though she's never experienced anything exactly like this. She took it in stride even though anyone looking at her would get the impress of 'piss off'. She hoped that Xavier or the others might be able to find her here but she wasn't about to leave it to them. The people here didn't want to hurt her and they could hardly know who she was given their reactions. She walked freely around pausing at the rec room.
"What more could a gal want?"
She mumbled the words beneath her breath as she took a lap around the rec room. They had everything here and if she didn't know better she'd expect Xavier to roll around the next corner.
A frown touched her lips and she moved on, for now inspecting things. She could force her way out but that'd hardly get her answers.
REC ROOM
Merde. This was going to be ugly...depending on how she felt about him, anyway. He ran a hand back through his hair, doing little to take the messiness of it and only serving to make himself look more roguish in his own right, before he slapped a charming smile on his face and spoke up.
"Well, now. Ain't dis a sight for sore eyes?"
REC ROOM
Merlin | Legends and Myths
Merlin was enjoying himself, running along the forest, barefoot and wearing only a pair of shorts. He saw no reason to wear more, and if it was not for the sensibilities of others, would have worn less. Since arriving, and discovering he could not get home, he had begun to explore, and enjoy, as much as he could.
This forest was amazing, though he worried there was a secret involved in it he did not know.
Something... sinister.
Nonetheless, for now, he ran, grinning, letting the cool air stream past him.
Rec Room
In the rec room there is a pool, and in the pool, people would find a wizard. This wizard looks fairly normal today, swimming with strong strokes down the course of it. Merlin has always enjoyed the water, and this water is no different. He likes how it makes him feel, and how he can work out here, just as he runs in the forest. Not a bad thing at all.
Plus he can fling water at people from here, which he finds amusing.
2: Forest
She didn't care for the way he dressed and she felt no need to interrupt him. She found a position next to a tree and leaned against the tall bark. Her fingers flexed as she rested there, her eyes flicking from the stranger to other parts of the forest floor.

Bella Donna Boudreaux | Marvel Comics
The last thing Belle wanted was to be away from her guild. There was always a mountain of work to be done and even a day away would put her disastrously behind. People who hired assassins tended to be neither patient nor understanding about delays.
She'd gone looking for a way out, but it looked like all the likely exits were restricted. Rather than beat her head against the wall, Belle decided to take a more moderate approach. It was a red letter day for her. So she went to the rec room, hoping to run into someone who knew more than her.
While she waited for someone to come by she racked up the pool balls and took a stick off the rack on the wall. Like all loner pool sticks they were crap, but beggars couldn't be choosers. She settled into the familiar stance, eying the balls before she broke.
no subject
She paused when she heard the crack of the pool cue against the ceramic balls. She turned and stepped into the rec room. Her hands were shoved into her green windbreaker, one of the few things she still had from Toronto.
"I always thought this game was more fun when you had someone to play against." Elena didn't spend a lot of time playing pool but she knew the rules and was used to hanging out in bars that had pool tables. There was something familiar about the scent of the chalk and wood that accompanied the game.
